American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) with operations in over 120 countries and over 14,000 employees sought to amplify online travel program capabilities to gain market share and differentiate core services. The company had main challenges regarding scalability, performance, and data governance. Creating a single portal for 945 separate data files using existing BI tools was an experience of over six months, and the legacy system was not scalable. Performance was also affected due to limitations on moving to the cloud, involving high manual intervention. Additionally, user data security and privacy were concerns of high priority.

To counter these hurdles, Amex GBT strategically invested in intelligent analytics with the mission of enhancing its booking software. The new system allowed users to measure travel ROI through cost, time, and value with distinct KPIs. This provided users with actionable insights for informed decision-making.

The outcomes were spectacular. Amex GBT reduced travel costs by 30%. Onboarding new users, which used to be a week-long project, was reduced to a day with Premier Insights. The solution also tapped cost-saving opportunities by reminding users of booking discounts and even optimized parameters such as travel times and booking dates. The user-friendly interface, quick scalability, real-time reporting, and interactive dashboards also contributed to building robust global online adoption.

In all, the application of advanced analytics not only resolved operational issues but also resulted in measurable gains in efficiency, cost savings, and user experience for Amex GBT.
